When Ronnie James Dio followed Ozzy Osbourne as the vocalist for Black Sabbath, I made the naive assumption that Dio was younger than Ozzy, having only been with Rainbow for a few years. Actually, though, Dio was six years older than Ozzy. Why is this relevant? It just means that Dio had an opportunity to make some interesting music that I'd yet to discover. Before Rainbow, Dio was in a rock band(not hard rock or metal) called Elf that released three albums in the early 70's. I have two of them on vinyl, but not the debut self-titled effort(poor me). I do have the downloaded music, though. Here is the first song off of that debut.
